Melanie Giles is a recognised national specialist in the field of personal insolvency, and is currently managing an extensive portfolio of Bankruptcy and Individual Voluntary Arrangement cases within her two owner/managed accountancy practices based on the UK mainland and in Northern Ireland.
Melanie was brought up and educated in rural Pembrokeshire, and relocated to Cardiff in 1985 to work within the insolvency department of PriceWaterhouse.
Following short spells as a Financial Accountant in industry, and as a Practice Manager for a small local accountancy firm, she returned to the insolvency arena in 1991 to work for Coopers & Lybrand, turning a full circle upon the later merger of both major firms into PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Melanie obtained her insolvency license in 1996, having successfully passed the Joint Insolvency Examinations Board examinations at the first attempt, and now has over 20 years practical insolvency experience – both corporate and personal. She left PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1999 to further her personal insolvency experience, concentrating largely on Individual Voluntary Arrangement work, and established her current practices of JonesGiles and Philip Gill & Company in 2002 which have both been successful at a national level.
Her reputation at the leading edge of personal insolvency is derived from a sympathetic approach to individuals, coupled with sound commercial judgement and careful ongoing case management to ensure creditors’ expectations are appropriately managed. She enjoys a 98% success rate at IVA creditor meetings, and has a lower than 5% failure rate for Voluntary Arrangement supervision.
Melanie produces work of the highest quality, and is well respected within both creditor and debtor environments. She has developed close links with all main banks, credit card providers and financial institutions and is able to negotiate settlements at all levels.

Melanie is married and lives in a small village community in the Vale of Glamorgan, but regularly commutes to her other offices in Plymouth, Birmingham and Belfast. In her spare time she is a keen competitive runner, regular skier and qualified scuba diver.
